InzaloEMS is the leading EMS service provider that has its own custom-built Asset Management application which links directly to their own inhouse developed GIS system
National Treasury recently announced that Asset Management will be the next focus area to be included in the reporting system for local government: “A city’s asset register enables comprehensive accounting and financial data analysis and reporting, in line with statutory requirements, accounting standards and other stakeholder requirements.”
“The success of the InzaloEMS Asset Management tool, built to comply with National Treasury requirements and in line with GRAP 17, lies not only in the software solution but also in the quality, accuracy and completeness of the Asset Register data,” says Alta Coetzee, Senior Manager for GIS and Asset Management at InzaloEMS. “Our GIS system reads directly to the financial database of the particular local municipality, and this allows us to easily spot gaps and areas of concern in the data.”

The Financial Asset Register of any municipality totals the biggest amount on its balance sheet and the management of assets is directly linked to service delivery. Only by knowing the full extent of one’s assets can one do proper planning and maintenance. To avoid the situation where municipalities maintain two asset registers – one from the technical department and one from the finance department – it is important to involve both functions in the implementation as the InzaloEMS Asset Management Module. This is where InzaloEMS shines, as their system is built specifically to do this.
The InzaloEMS system handles all financial transactions (according to GRAP 17 Standards) and from the same database, the asset register data is mapped to the spatial environment. Anomalies can be identified and investigated if necessary. “This ability comes as a result of the 96 collective years of experience in our team,” says Coetzee proudly.
The days of passing journals to account for Assets is over and municipalities can now report and account for all asset transactions on a component level.
This is quite a new concept for many staff members in local government and poses various challenges in their environment. This is where InzaloEMS is ideally suited to bridge the gap with its comprehensive experience and state of the art assets module.
Training courses on the new application have been well-received by municipalities, especially in Tsantsabane in the Northern Cape. CFO Leonard Coakley attended the training recently. “We will start using the InzaloEMS Asset Management application immediately and reporting will be included in our next year-end financials, as per National Treasury’s instruction. This new tool is going to help us a lot. It’s exactly what we need. We used to rely on outside consultants and now we won’t have to,” said Coakley.
“The InzaloEMS Asset Management system bridges a gap which existed, previously. They are really tapping into and bringing a Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) solution which allows municipalities to increase efficiency by using smart technology.” Coakley adds.

By implementing the InzaloEMS Asset Management Module, the IT company will not only assist with implementing the software application but will also help with reviewing the current Asset Register, ensuring it is aligned to mSCOA and the CIDMS.
Skills transfer is of utmost importance and InzaloEMS is dedicated to walk the road with all our clients. The Municipal Asset Register can now be managed on a daily basis. This includes monthly reporting and year-end preparations in order to avoid the year-end rush. Capacity building within the municipalities will assist in minimizing the high dependency on Asset Consultants.
The InzaloEMS Asset Management tool is designed for the seamless integration of this new application to enhance an effective financial system for local government. A consolidated asset register that presents one single version of the truth. This is what InzaloEMS does superbly.
