Heinrich Salome’s energy is palpable. Everything he does – from work to family to fun-running and giving back to communities – is filled with his passion for life.
“I found my passion for public service in local government after completing my accounting articles and then moving to a position at the offices of the Auditor General. I loved the government sphere and I saw a gap and an opportunity there,” says Heinrich, who is the InzaloEMS Regional Manager of Northern Cape.
After he quickly climbed the ladder to become deputy director in Finance at the Northern Cape Provincial Government, he then moved to InzaloEMS.
“Part of my job at provincial government was to roll out the new National Treasury reforms (mSCOA) in the Northern Cape to 30 municipalities. I had to work with all service providers to see what they could offer. And when I saw InzaloEMS’s custom-built and mSCOA-compliant financial system it was, WOW!”
“Compared to other service providers, the InzaloEMS system is modernised, online, progressive – a 1st World system embracing 4IR. It is cloud-based with the latest IT and fitted in perfectly with COVID-19 restrictions because it runs remotely. This purpose-built system is currently used in 11 municipalities in the Northern Cape and I am continually working towards other Northern Cape municipalities joining us. I am confident I can on-board more because there is no doubt in my mind that the InzaloEMS system is the best there is for the job.”
Heinrich then goes on to talk about his love for fun running which he believes has become a life-long hobby because of the joy it brings him. “I was always an athlete and was awarded colours in high school for short distance running. But long distance I picked up in 2018 and in 2019 completed the Two Oceans Marathon.”
Heinrich has since run multiple marathons and has an eye on the Comrades. His running club was provided with sponsorship by InzaloEMS and their branded T-shirts were out in full force when 100 of his running club members took part in the Two Oceans Marathon. “I am now training with my 9-year-old son for his cross-country race at school,” he says with pride.
Another subject dear to Heinrich’s heart is his love for social responsibility to his community. Deep in the Karoo, south of Kimberley, where Heinrich grew up, the town of Thembelihle (Hope Town) is home to many unemployed youth. This is where InzaloEMS is creating learnership opportunities with a skills development programme in software development for 30 young people. “This is a chance for those with a matric certificate to upskill themselves and receive a monthly stipend. The municipality provides the venue and the tablets they are given to work on for the duration of the course and then become theirs after completing the national certificate (NQF4). I have been so fortunate that giving back has become part of my daily routine.”
Heinrich recently completed a post-graduate diploma in Project Management Principles and became a certified Associate Project Manager, an international qualification.
His energy and passion just never runs out.
