“I have lost count of how many trainees I have mentored,” says Simon Moloi, Support Manager at Inzalo EMS. “I love young professionals. To see a person grow in the company gives one an incentive to work hard at Inzalo EMS. I have been privileged to mentor a number of young people into becoming professionals and realising their dreams. This is a journey that requires you to have patience, passion and emotional intelligence to work with people from diverse backgrounds.”
This is the passion that Simon brings to Inzalo EMS. He hails from Senekal in the Free State and joined the company in 2015. He has grown through the ranks to become part of Senior Management. “I was in the trenches when I joined but then I started climbing. I was first promoted to Senior Accountant, then appointed Project Manager, Regional Manager and now Support Manager. Working with a team who believed in me as a leader gave me the impetus to succeed in my projects and reach greater heights.”
“I work closely on the ground in rural areas across South Africa. I see that where we implement our systems, we also impact the local community. Improved local government means improved service delivery. When the municipality’s feedback is positive it offers goodwill to its residents.”
Simon’s passion for community is well chronicled the Mantsopa Municipality where he took to the streets with a road crew and helped to fill potholes. “The reaction of the residents who saw visible, tangible service delivery on the ground, was overwhelming. It reminded me that before being a professional I am a community member.”
“At Inzalo EMS, we value social responsibility. We want to give back to the communities and make sure they benefit from our work at their municipality. Inzalo EMS runs learnerships for unemployed youth in many of these towns.”
The training and support that Inzalo EMS gives to municipalities on its systems for managing municipal funds in line with National Treasury requirements, makes staff confident and creates harmony in the work force. “Staff are encouraged and excited to come to work and morale increases across the board. When a municipality is praised for obtaining an Unqualified Audit, it gives them confidence as well as motivates the community. It’s a very big positive for them and us.”
One of Simon’s favourite quotes is from Theodore Roosevelt, “Nothing worth having was ever achieved without effort.” This was a lesson he learned from his parents who he says, were his primary inspiration to succeed in life.
