“I just can’t let things go. I need to see communities benefit and lives improved.”
Ranthako Mokatsayane is single-minded about working day and night to get municipalities who received a Disclaimer from the Auditor General to a Qualified Audit, at least, for their next submissions due in July/ August.
Nquthu is one such municipality which received a Disclaimer from the Auditor General last year. Ranthako explains that was only because the changes in National Treasury’s requirements caught them out. But now, using InzaloEMS’ system, custom-built for the exact purpose of compliant reporting, they are sure to get at least a Qualified Audit this year and next year will be well on their way to a Clean Audit, he adds excitedly. By the end of April already, he managed to clear out the cash and credit books. “I did this together with the department’s staff, who I trained. I always try my best to see that things are done in the most efficient manner possible.”
Ranthako says the ten years he worked in local government, in his home town of Ladybrand, first as a creditors clerk and then promoted through the ranks to acting accountant gave him experience and dedication. He was, of course, at the coal face of his own family’s complaints and it is why he is so aware of local government’s influence over its residents. “When the refuse wasn’t collected, my relatives would call me!” he chuckles.
It is his personal ambition to get municipalities working properly and contends that InzaloEMS’s Cloud Adoption option, supported by their new Mobile Solar Units would be the most efficient way to keep municipal offices online and working whether they have electric power or not. Load shedding, outages and connectivity are all overcome by using these InzaloEMS systems. Having constant connectivity and cloud services for remote local government offices would mean a much easier life for residents. He explains that mobile solar units could travel to communities without them having to spend the time and the money to travel to the municipal offices to make payments and query matters. “Solar is definitely the best solution,” says Ranthako.
“I get so involved with getting ‘my’ municipalities to comply with National Treasury requirements, that it is probably why I easily reached my target for the MFMA (Municipal Finance Management Act) calendar and other compliance targets, for my InzaloEMS clients.” He stresses that he has an exceptionally good support team to assist.
